Any piece of furniture can be easily painted. Pick a color, find the paint, prep and repair your piece, apply paint and topcoat and well, you’re done. However, there is so much more to creating unique, beautiful pieces to be loved and treasured. For me, it is not furniture painting but rather furniture transformation. Each piece is evaluated for its structure, lines and yes, its essence. The next step involves deciding on color and color blending, accents such as decoupage, moulding and stencils, texture to create dimension – endless possibilities exist. The end result will be a unique work of art for you to treasure in your home.

Hi everyone, I am Janice and welcome to 71 Pearl Street Designs. The house on 71 Pearl still exists but is no longer filled with the boisterous Italian family I grew up with. I am blessed with wonderful memories which inspire me to create pieces that will help to enhance the beauty of your home. I am forever grateful fo the love and warmth of my grandmothers home. As well, I have been blessed to have spent the last 38 years as a nurse and nurse practitioner. In that role, I have worked to bring hope, comfort and support to my patients. The world is forever changed by the COVID pandemic. Now more than ever, people want their homes to be places of comfort, warmth and joy. With my work, I hope to create designs and offer inspiration to bring those qualities to your home. Let’s create together!

Inspiration

 

The world is at our fingertips. With just a click of a button we can travel to the far corners of the earth without ever leaving our home. I am fortunate to have traveled to many places and am always inspired by the beauty of nature, architecture, gardens, cobblestone roads and open markets. I tend to create based on what appeals to me from colors to textures to patterns. Beautiful gardens in the English countryside, shops and narrow streets in the South of France, lively markets in Tuscany, the majestic mountains of Glacier National Park, green hills of the Irish countryside and the vineyards of Sonoma, offer endless inspiration.

 

I also want to give credit to the many talented artists and painters I follow. There are so many wonderful individuals committed to their craft that have helped me to grow as an artist. Of course, endless thanks to my family and friends who never waiver with their support and encouragement and inspire me everyday.
